In Loving Memory Of Gibson, The World’s Tallest Dog

Gibson, the spokesdog for K9Grass® has succumbed to bone cancer on Friday, August 7th at 10 AM. Gibson was seven-years-old. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in April 2009 and had his front right leg amputated. After the surgery and chemotherapy, the tests showed no signs of cancer. Last week, Sandy Hall, Gibson’s owner, was told that the cancer had spread to his lungs and spine.

Gibson’s veterinarian, Dr. Peter Walsh, said,

“Last week Gibson began having trouble using his back legs. X-rays showed that the cancer had spread to his spine and his lungs. Ms. Hall made the very difficult decision based on her concern and love for Gibson to have him humanely euthanized. Gibson died peacefully in the loving arms of Ms. Hall.”

Ms. Hall continues to work with “Three Paws for the Cause” with Brewster, Gibson’s son, to raise awareness of canine cancer and to keep Gibson’s legacy alive. They are currently working on plans to tour the U.S. on a bus with ForeverLawn (makers of K9Grass).

Brewster will follow the steps of his dad and become the official spokesdog of K9Grass. He is 38 inches tall at the shoulder- 4.6 inches shorter than when Gibson earned the title as “World’s Tallest Dog,” but he’s 165 lbs, 40 lbs heavier than when Gibson turned one-years-old.

If you’d like to help pay for Gibson’s medical bills and funeral expenses, please visit K9Grass or Remember Gibson, where you can also donate to canine cancer.

Writing this post has brought tears to my eyes and we want to extend our condolences to the Gibson family.

If you have fond memories of Gibson, you can write a note on his guestbook.
