Home Fur Ever, A No-Kill Shelter, Needs Donations After A Robbery

Home Fur Ever is a no-kill non-profit animal rescue shelter that relies on weekend events to promote adoption services. However, they will no longer be able to promote adoption or transport animals to different destinations because valuable items from the shelter were stolen, according to My Fox Detroit.

This is a tragedy, as shelters across the country are working hard to promote healthy adoptions and educate pet owners not to give up their pets due to lack of financial means.

Marilyn McKiddie, director of Home Fur Ever, told My Fox Detroit,

“There’s about 30 crates missing. There’s rugs missing that we put in bottom of the crates. Our medical equipment was in the van. That is gone. Our grooming equipment. Our clipboards. We’re missing a bag of clipboards. All our office equipment, paper and pens and staplers and things like that,” McKiddie said.

While their van and trailer was recovered, they still suffer $6,000 worth of lost equipment.

“I was just sick to my stomach because we can’t show on Saturday now,” said McKiddie. “We don’t have enough crates for our dogs. We don’t have any large crates. Most of our dogs are the large breed dogs.”

i applaude your desire to help homefur ever in their times of misfourtune..but may i add..take a real long look at this rescue! They want their dogs adopted outside detroit..yet r willing to take donations from the people of detroit! To profile Detroit in a negative light and turn around with a hand out taking donations is not right. The director of homefur-ever left 900$$ dollars (info from the news clippings) in the van that was stolen..to me thats irresponsiblity at its worst! Now she is beggin for donations to cover her mistake!
