Heidi Rhiann, 38, owns a small farm in the Welsh countryside where she breeds pigs, the Daily Mail reported last week. One special Belgian Blue piglet named Apple Sauce, was born on the farm, but sadly, was rejected by her own mother. Three weeks prior to the incident, Rhiann’s Rottweiler, Sasha, gave bith to a litter of puppies.

In an attempt to rescue the piglet, Rhiann quickly placed her with the puppies.

Rhiann said, “It was the last chance for the piglet. I wrapped Apple Sauce in a blanket the puppies had been on to try and transfer the scent and left her next to Sasha. About an hour later I went to see how they were getting along and Apple Sauce was suckling.”

Instinctively, Sasha knew something was wrong with Apple Sauce, who “has a poorly trotter” and Sasha tried to heal it by licking it.

Sadly, the Daily Mail reported that Apple Sauce passed away on Saturday after battling with health issues. The family is heartbroken and had hoped to keep Apple Sauce as a family pet.
