Dr. Mark Perissinotto from VetShop Australia conducted a study asking people if they’d rather be stranded on a deserted island with their dog or a human. According to The Courier Mail, the study found that out of 1000 pet owners and lovers who took the survey, 56 percent of them answered that they’d rather be with their pets.

So, how many people actually chose to be stranded on a deserted island with a loved one? Only 16 percent, followed by cats at 12 percent, mothers at 11 percent and best friends at 5 percent.

Dr. Perissinotto told The Courier Mail,

“Although the people who did the survey were pet lovers, it surprised me that the number was as high as what it was for dogs. I guess when you’re in a small, tight space, a dog is better company because they can’t talk back and they’re fun to be around.”

He continued,

“They work with us herding sheep and cattle, help at scenes of crimes, rescue people after disasters, protect our borders, go to war with us and guide the blind.”

Who would you choose?
