At the age of 20-years-and-eight-months, Otto, a Dachshund-Cross Terrier has officially gained the title of World’s Oldest Dog by the Guinness Book of Records, the Daily Mail UK reported. Previously, Chanel, a 21-year-old Dachshund from New York was the record holder.

Otto’s owners, Lynn, 53, and Peter Jones, 68, of Shrewbury had Otto when he was just six weeks old and entered him for a running title after learning of Chanel’s death last month.

A normal day for Otto would be getting “plenty of love, plenty of good food, and regular check-ups at the vets.” Though he has arthritis, Otto is still pretty active for an old man.

Mrs Jones told the Daily Mail,

“He doesn’t really like walkies any more. He gets about ten yards down the road then looks back over his shoulder as if to say ‘I want to go home,’ but he’s still playful. He can still jump all over people when they come round.”

Otto gets tucked in for bed around 8 p.m. with Mr. Jones, so Mrs. Jones often sleeps in the spare room because they’re not enough room for the three of them.

Otto is currently 145 in doggy years.
