Petfinder.com has an online database with over 13,000 adoptable pets from animal shelters and rescue organizations across the United States, Canada and Mexico. They have decided to partner with PetFirst Healthcare, a privately-owned pet insurance company from Jeffersonville, IN to increase adoptions and protect protection from unexpected veterinary visits.
Each pet that is adopted through Petfinder’s enormous database will be offered a pet health insurance policy called “PetFirst’s Adoption Program.”
The program allows new fur parents to sign up for health insurance plans (up to $1,000 of annual accidents and illness protection). It costs $5 for the first month, then $14.95 each month after that. If you apply for a PetFirst basic insurance plan, not under Petfinder.com, it would cost $30 per month.
