The American Mutt-i-grees(TM) Club has noted that there are over 50 million mixed dog breeds in the United States. Since National Adopt a Shelter Pet Month is over soon, they have dedicated today, October 26, 2009 as National Mutt-i-Grees Day.
Each year, over 3 million dogs are euthanized. So, the American Mutt-i-grees Club has made adoption their number one priority.
If you’d like to help, please sell your unwanted items on eBay(R) and donate 10 or even 100 percent of the selling price to the North Shore Animal League, the world’s largest non-kill animal rescue/adoption organization.
“The American Mutt-i-grees(TM) Club wants the animal-loving public to automatically think of their local shelter as the best place to find a wonderful, healthy, loving dog and to avoid retailers and websites that sell dogs. Those dogs are largely supplied by irresponsible breeders and puppy mills that are breeding these animals under the most inhumane conditions. As the demand for mixed-breed dogs increases, the profitability of selling animals raised inhumanely will decline, ultimately saving lives,” Mr. John Stevenson, North Shore Animal League America President, stated in a press release.
