Since Vick was released from prison, he’s managed to return to the NFL and tour the country with the Humane Society of the United States President, Wayne Pacelle. Yesterday, Michael Vick spoke about dogfighting to a group of school children from the Boys and Girls Club in Newark.
According to NBC New York, Vick stated at his sixth appearance with Pacelle,
“I wish I could have a dog right now more than anything in the world. My goal now is to help more animals than I hurt and help turn a negative situation in a positive.”
Vick is currently banned from owning dogs by a judge, but he still has his hopes up. He told the children,
“I don’t know when that day is going to come. It’s up to my judge at his discretion.”
Vick was offered to see his dogs through safety precautions by BAD RAP, an organization that focuses on rehabilitating and finding adoptees for Pit bulls in the San Francisco Bay area, but he declined.
According to Pacelle, Vick is not making these appearances through a contract, but he voluntarily wants to prove to people he is a changed man.
When a child asked why he participated in dog fighting, Vick said “I don’t understand why to this day.”
