Last week, Stephen Colbert el dos won week 8 of the All American Pet Brand’s Cutest Dog Competition, but Mozart, MoMo, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel gave him a run for his money! MoMo has won week 9 and by a large margin. MoMo’s competitor, Lucy, a Super Pound Puppy, needed over 2,000 votes to pass and win Mozart’s spot.

MoMo is now a semi-finalist and has won $500. This is a small earning, however. MoMo’s owner, Cara McCool already has plans to donate portions of the $1 million to local charities in New Orleans.

Some of the charities include the LA/SPCA, the Louisiana Music Teachers Association’s “Save Our Students” scholarship fund, the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans, Teach for America, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue.

McCool is grateful for all the votes and hopes she continues to get more support so she can win and help her city.

This is a 12 week competition. There’s still three weeks left. The Cutest Dog Competition winner will be announced on Thanksgiving Day.

There’s been so much buzz about a Pomeranian-Chihuahua dog mix named Sptehen Colbert and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Mozart or simply, MoMo. Colbert el dos’s owner, Byran, entered him in the Cutest Dog Competition sponsored by the All American Pet Brands, and did just one thing before going to bed. According to CNN, Bryan went on a Stephen Colbert fan page, the human, and asked for support.

When he awoke the next morning, he checked the Cutest Dog Competition website and instead of seeing the very popular Mozart as the winner of week 8, it was Colbert el dos.

Mozart’s owner, Cara McCool, is just happy that so many people are getting involved. If she wins, she already has a list of charities she wants to donate money to. Some include Cavalier Rescue USA, Louisiana Teachers Save Our Students fund, and Redeemer Presbyterian Disaster Relief.

Judges had to remove 428 of Mozart’s votes due to “excessive voter accounts” which they found “no evidence that Mozart’s owners had any part in…”

Colbert el dos is a semi-finalist and MoMo could join him. There are four more weeks remaining, so four more dogs will be chosen to earn the title of the Cutest Dog!
