Currently, Denver, CO has a ban against “vicious dog breeds,” and that includes their top priority, pit bulls. According to KDVR News, councilwoman Carla Madison has been creating a proposal to reverse the ban and instead, allow pit bulls, under specific resctrictions.

The proposal:
-Owners must be 21 years and older
-They must pay $50 for a permit
-Home inspections is a MUST
-The dog would need temperament testing, obedience training, and a muzzle
-The owner must have at least $1 million in homeowner or renter insurance

There’s mixed reviews in the city, but the proposal hasn’t been heard at a city council meeting yet.

Either way, Madison said,

“It still would be illegal to own a pit bull in Denver unless you are willing to go through these hoops, and comply with the ordinance.”

Two pit bulls were pepper sprayed by an officer in Panama City, according to News Herald. The officer received news that a pit bull bit a man and when the officer arrived on scene, two pit bulls “ran at him aggressively.” Instinctually, he grabbed the pepper spray and ran back to his vehicle to call Animal Control.

The owner of the two pit bulls calmed the dogs down and brought them back into the house. However, Animal Control took one of the dogs who bit the victim and was quarantined for ten days.

It seems the owner can’t get a grip on the dogs because she admitted that the dogs killed her cat.
